Introducing Modalix SoM: Power efficient SoM with Rich Peripherals for Seamless Sensor Integration
At SiMa.ai, we’re pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with Physical AI. Today, we’re proud to announce the sampling of our new System-on-Module (SoM), featuring the second-generation Modalix™ MLSoC.
Designed to bring cutting-edge GenAI and LLM capabilities to real-world systems, this new SoM combines industry-relevant features into a compact, production-ready module. Whether you’re designing the next generation of autonomous robotics, intelligent vision systems, or low-power industrial automation, the Modalix SoM offers the perfect drop-in replacement—without compromise.
Key Features
The Modalix SoM is form-factor and pin-compatible with industry GPU leader’s SoM offering, enabling an effortless alternative path for existing designs. This is particularly beneficial to customers so they can use their current carrierboard with our SoM. This enables drop-in and unlock next-gen AI capabilities with dramatically improved performance-per-watt. In spite of the compact form factor, the SOM has the ability to support 4 MIPI Camera and also connect to SSD for fast storage. The SoM dimensions are 69.6mm x 45mm and it has a 260-pin SODIMM connector. Power can be provided from a wide voltage range of 5-20V.
Advanced thermal management, real-time performance monitoring, and support for both commercial and industrial temperature ranges ensure reliable performance and power efficiency at the edge. It is available in 32GB and 8GB LPDDR5 versions.
Compatibility with existing solutions ensures developers and system architects can integrate Modalix into their existing workflows and hardware stacks while taking advantage of SiMa.ai’s full-stack Physical AI platform including our unified software suite, Palette SDK and the powerful LLiMa™ GenAI deployment framework.
Powered by Modalix + LLiMa
At the heart of the SoM module is Modalix, our second-generation MLSoC with native support for GenAI workloads, transformers, and vision models. The 50 TOPs ML engine in Modalix along with the ARM processors, a DSP engine, ISP for MIPI inputs are among the features that allow the SoM to be competitive and flexible. Thanks to our purpose-built MLSoC and advanced power optimization in TSMC’s N6 process, the SoM delivers full-stack GenAI, LLM, and transformer model support while staying thermally efficient and performant even under sustained industrial workloads. The Modalix MLSoC truly enables customers to address diversified use cases for physical AI applications while providing scalability.
Complementing it is LLiMa, our new software framework that radically simplifies LLM deployment. With LLiMa, teams can run pre-compiled, quantized LLMs straight out of the box—no manual tuning required. Full integration with the SiMa.ai Palette SDK enables automated quantization (BF16, INT8, and INT4), model optimization, and deterministic deployment in record time.
Whether you’re building intelligent co-pilots for manufacturing, conversational assistants in logistics, or smart drones in defense, this platform gives you everything you need to go from concept to deployment—fast.
